Homecoming minus Ken

Homecoming is upon us, so it is only fitting that many of our regular “set up crew” and hosts will be missing. So if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a member of the set-up, all-day tailgate crew – this is your chance!

With the short staff we’re using our sign-up sheet here, to get a good head count of who is coming. Mid-way through the week we’ll figure out final plans for the food.

17 new starters, plus both kickers. Let’s make sure we’re giving 100% of our fandom to the boys. Remember, it can be worse.

The Calm Before the Storm

I’ve never liked “Bye Weeks” but at least we can all sleep in this Saturday, and next too as Michigan’s game vs. Michigan State has officially been announced as a night game, 7:30 PM on ABC. Years ago Rich and I played hockey with the then Chief of Police in Ann Arbor. He basically said a UM / MSU Night game is the police department’s worse nightmare. Let’s hope it’s a better dream!

Michigan is 3-0 all time in Night games at Michigan Stadium, but this is the first time in 110-game history that the UM / MSU game kicks at night. Though of course we all remember the 3-OT game in Ann Arbor with MSU in 2004 – that game ended well after dark. (Wow – pre-HD is terrible picture).

So what better way to celebrate UM / MSU at dark than our annual ITALIAN BEEF Tailgate!  Remember with a night game the parking lot opens at 12-noon, so give us some time to setup and come by anytime after 2 PM! Also, because we are expecting a big turnout PLEASE sign up by WEDNESDAY NOON!!

This week we will again go with a contribution of $10 per adult to cover the Italian Beef, buns, water and coke, diet coke and sprite. That means you can bring the side dishes, we could also use awesome homemade desserts to complement the BBQ.

There will be a keg contribution option for something from Atwater Brewery. There is also the option to contribute to the community cooler and partake from there. Remember, if you do not put into the community beer cooler, you should not take out. There is no free beer 😉 I mean at least we have the keg – in heaven there isn’t even beer!

To help make the tailgates more walking-friendly the hosts are providing more food / supplies each week (that can be brought in with the cars and parking passes); contributions to the tailgate fund are welcome and easy for you to carry in!

See you NEXT Saturday, and please remember to sign up early!!

Go Blue!
