Game 2 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

After a good start to the 2022 season we welcome the Rainbow Warriors from Hawaii. It was great to see so many old friends make it back to the tailgate and meet some new friends. As it often happens, the first tailgate is somewhat of a trial run with the holiday weekend. Thankfully we were able to recover from the failed generator and the smaller crowd worked well in the tents with the hot day.

With this week being a short week and work travel for Rich, we are going to do our best to have a special theme tailgate with BBQ from Satchels. But, if we do not have enough attendees we will fall back to a normal tailgate. Be sue to signup by Wednesday at 5.

As a reminder on how we run the tailgate, after a few years of trial and error where we had people get stuck in traffic with the main course, or the buns, or the condiments, or drinks, or one time even the plates, we shifted to a model where we bring in the main course and related items and the soft drinks and water for a contribution. This week the main course is planned to be BBQ if we have enough people sign up. Then people bring a side dish or a dessert appropriate for the size of their group. That gives people plenty of options to bring BBQ themed sides like corn bread, Cole slaw, or potato salad. The first tailgate we had only 3 side dishes so that was a sign that we need to give everyone a reminder. We had over 40 people sign up and many were looking at us wondering where the food was. Remember, this is not a catered event.

Ok, so here are the details for the tailgate this week and specifically how a night game changes things. The lot does not open until noon. Because of the later opening time we often have a challenge getting our normal spots. So if you happen to be local and have some time to come help at 11:45 we need people to walk (run) into the lot and stand in our spots as soon as they open the lot. Traditionally they do not allow vehicles to line up early so it is a game of musical chairs to hit the front of the line at noon. That said, we have always had people get in just before they start allowing cars into the lot. Remember it is first come first served at the lot so it can be a challenge. If you can help out with this task please let us know via the signup.

Second, the tailgate starts after 2pm. Traditionally we will put up the flags as soon as we have things setup. Here is to hoping we get our generator fixed before Saturday. For those who come when we start we can have burgers, dogs, and brats on the grill again. Let us know if you are hungry, or just come ask to take a turn on the grill.

Third, we are evaluating if we have enough attendees to bring in BBQ. So we need to know how many people will be attending. The special tailgates only work if we have a large number of people coming. Be sure to sign up early and tell your friends. If we have enough for BBQ the costs will be $20 for adults and $10 for kids. All costs have increased significantly for the tailgate. Thank you for your understanding and participation.

Go Blue!

Game 1 Colorado State

Are you ready to tailgate?

It is time for the return to the Big House for some Michigan Football and the first M Go Tailgate of the year. Last year was a great year and remember, we never lost a tailgate.

MGoTailgate – We’ve Never Lost A Tailgate

Here is the short story:

Use this link to sign up for the tailgate for the Colorado State Game. If you knew the password for last year you can likely figure it out for this year.

Game starts at noon so we will be there bright and early with an option for breakfast starting at 8. If you want to be included for breakfast you must let us know by Thursday. Generally we do a postgame tailgate. With the holiday weekend we will likely keep it short this weekend.

If you want to pay in advance just let one of the hosts know for details.

The usual details:

Please let us know if you will be attending or missing this week. It really helps us to know so we can plan. We really need people to signup by Thursday by 5pm so we can get the shopping done and be prepped to go in early Saturday morning.

If you are new to the M Go Tailgate crew, here is how we run the show. To ensure that the main course, non-alcoholic beverages and gear is there for everyone we ask for a contribution per person. For those who want to partake we will have a keg of beer and keg of seltzer as long as enough people signup to cover the costs. That leaves the sides and deserts for all of you to bring potluck style. So please indicate what you are bringing on the signup form. Also, if you have a large group please bring an appropriate amount to share for your group.

The Location link is on the web site, and we always hope to get the same spot. Remember it is first come first parked. We will need helpers for the Hawaii game to save our spots at noon. Let us know if you can help.

Speaking of the Hawaii night game, we will need to make some decisions on food options early next week. Please plan on signing up by Tuesday 5pm since we are coming off a holiday week and there is some work travel that week.

Thank you,

Ken & Rich
